Wrap-up Article

Although we had a small group of players participate; it was a fun event and I received a number of emails afterwards saying how much they enjoyed the "cozy" tournament. All the Island Clubs were represented. Many of the Kona Club members played, getting better prepared for the next USATT Sanctioned Tournament in Hawaii, taking place in August at their location. There was one first place winner from the Kona Club, Calvin, one from Hilo Club, Charlie, one from Captain Cook Club, Frank, and a huge congrats to Dave Schmitt winning 1st place in 2 events, representing the North Kohala Club. Good going Dave! When it comes to 2nd place winners, well the truth is; The Captain Cook Club swept all the events! It was a fairly short day, ending around 2:30pm. Mahalo to all players that participated; mahalo to John Romoa for making coffee and bringing fresh bananas; mahalo to Debbie for bringing the delicious hot pizza; mahalo to Charlie for coming early and helping to set up; and mahalo to all the other players that helped put everything away. Many matches went the 5 game limit so there was lots of great competition. See you all in Kona.
